These courses are “for credit” courses and can be taken for personal growth and interest
or can be applied toward a degree at ColumbiaBibleCollege.

Through
membership in a consortium of Christian colleges and universities, ColumbiaBibleCollege makes the following courses available in biblical studies, Christian
history, religious studies, and ministry. The courses are taught by highly qualified and diverse Christian professors and ministry
practitioners. These educational experiences are delivered through a combination of textbooks, lectures and other learning experiences on CD
and DVD, and selected internet resources. Students interact with their professors, as well as other students in the
same course, through email, bulletin board discusses, threaded discussions, and written response papers. Examinations are completed online in
most cases; in some courses the student will be required to identify a proctor who will receive and monitor the exam written by the student in
traditional format. Grades are filed by the professor with ColumbiaBibleCollege, where your official
transcript is held.

Online Courses offered at Columbia Bible College
Life of Christ (4- 3 credit courses): This is a four part harmonized study of Christ in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Semester 1 covers the
beginnings of the gospel through the first year of ministry. Semester 2 studies the later Galilean ministry, including the feeding of the 5000
and the transfiguration. Semester 3 investigates the later Judean and Perean ministry, up to the final week of Jesus’ life. Semester 4
concludes this extensive study with the passion of Christ through the ascension. Professor: Mark Moore is Professor of New Testament
at OzarkChristianCollege. He holds the BTh (OzarkChristianCollege; the MA in Religious Studies (SouthwestMissouriStateUniversity; and is a doctoral candidate at the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Prague, Czech Republic. Professor: James Marcum is

The Book of Hebrews:An exegetical study of the book of
Hebrews focusing on the superiority of Jesus and His covenant to all other religious persons and systems. Students will learn the contents of
Hebrews, practice solid doctrinal thinking about its teachings and experience the freeing impact of Jesus’ “once-for-all” atonement.

Old Testament Survey:This course is an intermediate level survey of the background, contents, and theology of the 39 books of the Old Testament.
Emphasis will be placed on understanding how the Old Testament is understood in its own context and yet speaks to our contemporary situations as
Christians. Students will read the entire Old Testament and a textbook; answer essay questions based on their reading and on notations taken
from watching the CD lectures; interact weekly online with the professor and fellow students; and complete proctored examinations.
Professor: Dr. Paul Kissling holds the MDiv (Lincoln Christian Seminary), and the MTh (TrinityEvangelicalDivinitySchool); and completed a PhD in Hebrew Bible at University of

New Testament Survey:Students participate in a survey of the New Testament text, canon and historical background of the New Testament, including
examination of the dates, authorship, circumstances, and content of each book. Professor: Dr. Greg Linton is Professor of New

BibleLands and Lifeways:This course
presents a multimedia exploration of the geography and cultures of the Bible. The class incorporates onsite videos, interactive maps, and a
variety of learning tools to help students explore the Holy Land. Professor: Dr. Mark S.
Ziese is Chair of the Bible Studies Department at CincinnatiChristianUniversity, teaching in Old Testament and Archaeology.

Creative Bible Teaching:Practical methods for teaching the Bible, including principles of teaching and learning, and lesson construction. Students
are guided in the step-by-step development of lesson plans. Various teaching techniques are researched, discussed and presented in field
experiences by the student. Professor: Dr. Rick Chromey is the Director of George Fox University – Boise Campus, located in
Boise, Idaho. He has previously been Asst.
Professor of Youth and Family Ministries at KentuckyChristianUniversity, and is an active youth worker, speaker, and

Youth Ministry Dynamics:This course focuses on the organization and administration of an effective youth program for the local church.
Characteristics and needs of today’s youth will be examined, as well as how to meet those needs through the gospel. Included is a history of
youth ministry, developing a personal philosophy, goals, qualifications, staff relations, retreats, discipleship programs, and other administrative
tasks required to develop a balanced youth program. Professor: Dr. Gary Austiak is the Director of Psychology and Counseling
at OzarkChristianCollege. He has also served as the Director of Youth Ministries and Resources at Christ in Youth of

Personal Evangelism in a Post-Christian World:A class in personal evangelism cannot be taught from a strictly academic perspective. This class
will examine evangelism as it takes place in Scripture, as well as study different approaches to evangelism which are used successfully in North

Church History:The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to the history of Christianity. This introductory course is designed
to acquaint the student with the broad scope of the history of the Church over two thousand years. At the end of the course, the student will
be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the four major time periods in Christian history: Early, Medieval, Renaissance-Reformation, and

Foundations of World Religions:This course includes an introduction to the theories, origins, and functions of religion. In addition to a survey of
primitive and basic religions, it will study the major religions of the world, classified by their geographical areas of origin:
India, China, Japan, and the Middle East. The course concludes with a study of the response
of Christianity to these world religions. Professor: Dr. Leonard Thompson is an evangelist, pastor, teacher and broadcaster.
He has conducted ministry in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Australia. He pastors the Annanagar Church of Christ in Chennai (Madras) India. He regularly teaches in
theological schools in Asia, and broadcasts four times a week through Radio Sri Lanka. He hols the BSL (Manila
Bible Seminary); MA (Cincinnati Bible Seminary); MA (Wheaton College); BD (Serampore College, India); DMin (Fuller Theological

Introduction to Islam:The course is a survey of key elements in the life of Islam –
beliefs, practices, and institutions – from a biblical perspective, with the goal of preparing Christians for ministry to Muslims. Attention is
given to the role of Muhammad, the Quran, diversity within Islam, and Islamic values, thought, social structure, and theology in view of the helps
and hindrances to evangelism presented by each. Professor: Dr. Robert Douglas is Professor of World Mission and Church Growth
at LincolnChristianCollege and Seminary. He holds the BA; MA (AbileneChristianCollege); MA (Fuller Theological Seminary); and PhD
(University of Southern California)> He was Executive
Driector of the Zwemer Institute of Muslim Studies, and served for ten years as a missionary to Muslims in Libya, Egypt, and Lebanon. He has previously taught at Fuller Theological Seminary and PepperdineUniversity. He was founder

Christian Worship: History & Practice.A course giving an overview of the history of Christian worship from the first century to the present,
focusing primarily on worship in the Western (Latin) and Protestant traditions. The course emphasizes the theology, architecture, practice
(liturgy), art, and music of corporate worship in the Roman world, Europe, and the United
States. The lecture format is used, complemented by electronic multi-media and group projects. It would be
most helpful for thestudent to have taken a Church History course prior to this class. Professor: Dr. Tom Lawson is Professor
of Christian Worship, Old Testament and New Testament at OzarkChristianCollege since 2003. He holds the following degrees:
Bth from OzarkBibleCollege (1975); MA in New Testament (1986) and an MA in Church History (2002), both from Cincinnati Bible

Family Ministries at KentuckyChristianUniversity, Grayson, Ky. He is an active youth worker, speaker, writer and travels widely as a representative and workshop leader
for Group Magazine. He is the author of Youth Ministry in SmallChurches and The Children’s Ministry Guide for Churches (Group, 1990 & 1995) He holds the following degrees: BS
in Pastoral Ministries, Nebraska Christian College

Leading Children’s Ministries Instructor: Robyn Dueck, B.A., Children’s

Robyn has more than 20 years direct experience in children’s ministries – as a member of pastoral
staff in BC congregations, and as a volunteer when her own children were small. She has two bachelor’s degrees: one in fashion design, and one
in Biblical Leadership. Both have been central in her ministries with children.
Robyn will lead the class in defining a philosophy and theology of ministry to children, and provide
insight about volunteer recruitment and mentoring, curriculum selection and implementation, and working within the wider church
ministries.

Journaling for Personal and Spiritual Growth Instructor: April Yamasaki, M.C.S., Lead Pastor, Emmanuel Mennonite

April Yamasaki was a faculty member and
writer-in-residence at Columbia before being called into pastoral ministry. In addition to serving her own congregation, she continues to write and
publish for the wider church, and is a life-long journal keeper. This 4-week series on journaling is grounded in Scripture and prayer, and will
be led workshop-style with practical instruction, time for journaling exercises, and dialogue.

recently preached through the book of James, and will be sharing four selected studies from this highly practical New Testament
Book.
