Ever wanted to take a Bible College course, but couldn’t fit it into your busy schedule? Are you looking to enhance the Biblical knowledge of your
congregation? Looking for a speaker for a retreat, focus group, or leadership team in your church, organization, or community? Columbia on the Road
offers you the benefits of a Columbia Bible College education experience in a local setting.
Columbia Bible College is committed to preparing people for a life of discipleship, service, and ministry and Columbia’s Faculty, specializing in
various topics, can enhance your learning experience! Each course includes multiple sessions that fit well into a weekend of educational activities,
a Sunday morning series, or may be adapted for other contexts such as retreats.
The cost of a course is $450 for 3 sessions and $550 for 4 sessions. For locations out of the Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley (Vancouver-Hope), we
also request that the hosting church or agency cover the cost of transportation and provide lodging and meals for the instructor. A travel subsidy
may be available from Columbia Bible College.

Spiritual Disciplines for Everyday Life
A flexible course on your choice of 3 or 4 of the following spiritual
disciplines: prayer, journaling, meditation, fasting, simplicity, guidance. The course will include a biblical basis for the disciplines, practical
"how to" instruction and brief exercises to begin practicing the disciplines.

Anabaptist Beginnings
This is a four session course that introduces the 16th century Anabaptist movement in Europe using PowerPoint
pictures from a recent tour. It includes stories from the 16th century as well as theological reflections on contemporary issues.

Journey through John
This course surveys the main themes of John's gospel with special attention to the first four chapters. With the
basic principles for understanding John, his audience and the way he writes, the reader can walk through the landscape of John's gospel and glean
fresh, new insights to the gospel story. Sessions may include:

Daniel and the Test of Faith
Daniel is a book both strange and compelling and it has attracted the curiosity and the speculation of
generations across the centuries. This course examines the first six chapters of Daniel to glean what it is like for the people of God to live in a
culture that does not acknowledge God.

Salvation & Conversion: Beginning and Ending Well
This four session course examines what it means to be saved. It begins with a
survey of the concept in the Old Testament and then take a more in-depth look at how the New Testament, particularly, Jesus, John and Paul speak to
the subjection of beginning and ending well. The course ends with putting all the different parts together in a sustainable whole. The course may
include:
• The Old Testament Concept of Salvation
• Salvation and Conversion in the teachings of Jesus (Matthew, Mark, Luke-Acts)

Salvation and Conversion in the writings of John
• Salvation and Conversion in the writings of Paul

4 Keys to Understanding the Minor Prophets
This course will look at 3 to 4 keys for understanding the Minor Prophets.
The Minor Prophets seem obscure to many in the church. These keys will unlock some doors or windows on this section of scripture. They will
include:
• Historical Keys – How does history provide a context for understand what the prophets are saying?
• Formal – Is the form in which
the prophets are written helpful to understanding them?
• Theological – To what degree do the prophets show a God of judgment and what degree a
God of love?
• Geographical or Language – How does the lay of the land impact the message heard? Or What are some key words to help hear the
prophets?

Developing Effective Relationships
This 3 to 4 session course will look at some ways to improve relationships. These sessions are useful
for people from their teens and up. Sessions may include the following:
• Gracious living – To what degree does our experience of God’s grace
impact our relationship with others.
• Emotional balance – Our emotions are indicators of something…the problem lies in assessing what it is.
• Healthy Fighting – Since we will have conflict, how do we understand it and what are some steps to doing it well.
• Communication – If the
line of connection between people is corrupted it is very hard to send good messages back and forth.

speak to issues relevant for Christians today. How can the OT inform us about facing life with faith and courage rather than fear and doubt? How can
we better understand “chance” events in our lives and turn them into blessings? In times of suffering, how can the OT provide comfort? How can a new
recognition of God’s role as creator and sustainer of our world lead to worship?

The Bible and Family Relationships. This three or four session offering covers a variety of issues related to
marriage and family. The perspective is not that of a family counsellor—as valuable as that would be—but rather that of a biblical theologian
