Mitsuru Shimbara Endeavor Award 1 @ $750 Awarded to a continuing student who has demonstrated growth in faith and
significant effort in his/her program of studies.
Columbia Senior Student Scholarship 1 @ $1200 Awarded to a continuing student entering year 4 of their Bachelor of Arts Degree. This student will demonstrate a strong commitment to the church
and its mission.
Grace Rempel Memorial Scholarship 2 @ $1500 Awarded to two students entering the final year of their Bachelor of Arts Degrees. These students will have demonstrated academic
excellence
and a commitment to vocational pastoral ministry.
Brad
Thiessen Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $600
Awarded to an international student (with preference to African student) or a
Missions major).
Byron Richert Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $800
Awarded to a deserving BA or Diploma student exhibiting a keen interest in
pursuing pastoral ministry.
Erin Konrad Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $800
Awarded to a deserving student from northern British Columbia who have served in
summer
ministry or music ministry at the college.
Peter Friesen Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $800 Awarded to a deserving international student or to a student who's parents are overseas
missionaries .
Hildi Sawatzky Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $750
Awarded to a student with financial need in their second or third year of the
Intercultural Studies program.
Inez
Lutz Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $1000
Awarded to a BA or Diploma student active in a Columbia music ensemble tour group.
John Esau Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $1500
This scholarship will be awarded to a student entering the third or fourth year
of a Biblical Studies major who has demonstrated academic giftedness (min. 3.5
cumulative GPA), admirable Christian character, and an interest in pursuing
either a full-time teaching role in biblical studies or a pastoral ministry
role with a significant biblical teaching emphasis. First priority for this
scholarship will go to those in the Teaching Emphasis of the Biblical Studies
major but those in the Church Ministry Emphasis will also be considered.
Anne Esau Memorial Scholarship 1 @
$1500
This
scholarship will be awarded to a student entering the third or fourth year of a
Biblical Studies major (Community Development Emphasis) who has demonstrated
academic giftedness (min. 3.25 cumulative GPA), admirable Christian character,
and an interest in pursuing a full-time role with an organization involved in
community development, locally or internationally.

Scholarship
1 @ $5500
Awarded to a returning student who is a single parent or from a single parent
home. Preference is given to a student who is studying toward a vocation in ministry.

Rempel Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $400
Awarded to a deserving student from Saskatchewan
who has exhibited leadership in student government or athletics.
GAMA-Biblical
Studies Scholarship 1 @ $700
Awarded to a BA or Diploma student who demonstrates a keen interest in Biblical
Studies.
Blackwood
Music Scholarship 1 @ $500
Awarded to a deserving student displaying strong motivation and potential
towards excellence in music.
Christian
Leadership Award 1 @ $1000
Awarded to a student who demonstrates a keen interest and ability in
teaching and/ or choral leadership.
BC Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches Scholarship 3 @ $500
Awarded to 3 BA or Diploma students from Mennonite Churches in BC who have demonstrated a
commitment to the church and its mission and have served the MB church during
their Service Practicum. One award for each of: Biblical Studies, Worship
Arts and Youth Work majors.
Early
Childhood Education Conference Scholarship 1 @ $500
Awarded to a returning ECE student with a minimum GPA 2.8, demonstrating
leadership ability and experience working in ECE, camp, church or community
setting.
Missions
Studies Scholarship 1 @ $500
Awarded to a student who has a growing interest in missions
Evangelism
Scholarship 1 @ $400
Awarded to a BA or Diploma student who has a keen and growing commitment to
evangelism.
Philippians
4:19 Scholarship 3 @ $1000
Awarded to a 3rd or 4th yr. BA student with a focus on full-time
ministry. Recipients will exhibit academic excellence, admirable
Christian character, significant positive contribution to college community and
demonstrate commitment to the church and its mission.
Jack & LenaBlockChristianMinistry Scholarship 1 @ $1000
Awarded to a 3rd or 4th yr BA student who has a mind for ministry in either the
local church or a para-church organization.
Jacob
& Helena Janzen Memorial Scholarship 1 @ $1000
Awarded to a student having completed either his/her 1st or 2nd yr of study and
intending to pursue further ministry.
40’s
& 50’s Alumni Scholarship 1 @ $1000
Awarded to an outstanding student demonstrating maturity, strong Christian
character, leadership qualities, and a commitment to Christian ministry.
Jurgen
Schonwetter Leadership Scholarship 1 @ $1000
Awarded to a 3rd or 4th year student who demonstrates leadership ability and
has volunteered in a leadership role during their years at Columbia. Student’s
objective is
to fill a leadership role in a church or para-church organization.
George
and Karen Schmidt Leadership Scholarship 1 @ $1000
Awarded to a graduating BA student with a significant record of leadership in
Student Life and/or Student Government.
Dr.
Walter Unger Leadership Award 1 @ $1000
Awarded to a continuing third or fourth year student who has been growing as a
leader and continues to demonstrate leadership skills at Columbia. Minimum
cumulative GPA of
3.0.
Kim
Manchip Memorial 1 @ $1000
The scholarship shall be awarded to a student in the Outdoor Leadership
Program with G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher; aquatic or alpine interest; strong love
of sports; strong belief in God and demonstrates this in everyday life,
illustrating a love of people; strong sense of stewardship toward the earth;
living an action centered life in relation to God rather than a word centered
one; willing to step beyond his/her fears and his/her comfort zone.
Bakerview
Church Scholarships 1 @ $1,500 (3rd,4th yr) and 1 @ $1,000 (2nd, 3rd yr)
Awarded to continuing full time students entering year 2,3, or 4 of a degree
program with a focus on full time ministry. Recipients will exhibit spiritual
and academic growth, and will be making a significant contribution to the life
of their home church or greater community. The recipients will
demonstrate a commitment of the mission of the church and an intention to serve
in a ministry capacity within it.
Senior Resident Student
Leadership Scholarships $450-$700
Awarded to 3rd & 4th year resident students involved in leadership on
campus. A separate application form is available
Shealtiel Outdoor
Leadership Scholarship 1 @ $1000 Awarded to the OL
student with the highest field proficiency mark on the spring guiding
exam. No application is accepted, this award will be assigned by the OL
department. Student must write a 500 word summary or their ministry goals after completing OL training.
Most
Improved Student Scholarship 1 @ $500 Based on GPA and all
around development, this scholarship will be awarded to a student showing significant improvement.
Student needs to be entering year 3 of their program.
Student
Association
Scholarship 1 @ $1000 This scholarship
will be awarded to a 2nd year student with the minimum GPA of 2.0.
Preference shall be given to a student who has the intention to pursue a BA and
is actively involved in campus life whose involvement is worthy of recognition. Student must be nominated by other students and/or faculty or
staff (short summary submitted in sealed envelope with students application).
First
Year Transfer Award 4 @ $750 Awarded to students
in a one-year program currently and are planning on returning to CBC in a BA
program.
Henry & Esther Born
(Memorial) Scholarship 1 @ $1000 Awarded to a BA
student in their third or fourth year majoring in theology (ministry focus degree) with a future goal
of full time church ministry.
Wayne & Gwen Reese Ministry
Scholarship 1 @ $500 Awarded to a student
entering their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of a BA program intending to pursue
full-time career ministry. Maintain a min. GPA of 2.5. Preference given to a married student who demonstrates financial need.

Awarded to continuing students based on financial need.

Memorial Bursary 1 @ $1000 Awarded to a continuing student who has demonstrated growth in faith and
significant effort in his/her program of studies and financial need.
Camp
Ministry Bursary 1 @ $250
Awarded to a student with financial need planning on spending the summer
ministering at a camp.
John
Schmidt Memorial Bursary 1 @
$800 Awarded to a
returning 3rd year student intending to pursue full-time vocational Christian ministry.
They must demonstrate financial need and be showing strong effort in their
studies.
Woodlawn
Christian Support Bursary 1 @ $500
Awarded to a student whose immediate family is unable to provide financial
support.

How to
apply:
You can apply for all continuing
student scholarships/bursaries by paper copy only.Pick up your application
today at one of the following locations on Columbia's campus: College Reception
or Financial Aid Display in the foyer of the Columbia Resource Centre, Student
Development Reception or the Admissions/Financial Aid Office on the second
floor of the Columbia Student Centre.
You must fill out a separate application form for each award you are applying
for and include all information required to demonstrates how you meet the
criteria for the award you are applying for.
You
must also:
- Be returning to Columbia
as a full-time student for the next year (min. 12 credits per semester)
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 for bursaries & 2.5 for scholarships
(higher for some awards).
- Meet the specific criteria of the scholarship applied for.
- Be prepared to attend the Scholarship Dessert Evening on Wednesday, March
25, 2009 to receive your scholarship or bursary.
Application
deadline is Feb 20, 2009. AWARD RECIPIENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MARCH 6, 2009.

students for either the whole school year or for individual semesters.

Eligibility: - The Church Matching Bursaries are awarded to students who are enrolled in
full-time classes and have a minimum semester GPA of 2.0.
- Forms must be submitted by the student and the church in order to be
considered for the award.
Details: - Students will
receive this award on a first come basis until all funds have been
awarded. It is a renewable award by application each year.
