January was a busy month in the Alumni Relations Office with the alumni newsletter, Missions Fest, and preparations for the phone-a-thon. I am really excited about the response from alumni so far! It's been great to hear what you are up to and there is a lot of excitement about alumni events! Here's what's happening...
Phone-a-Thon
Our annual Phone-a-Thon will take place February 6-7, 12-15. Current students will be calling alumni to participate in raising funds for projects to benefit students. You should have received your phone-a-thon information with your alumni newsletter. Students are excited about the opportunity to connect with Alumni and you can pray for them (and for me) as we spend the next two weeks calling all the active alumni from the past 70 years to help raise money to cover some of the costs of education.
Ontario Gathering
An alumni gathering will happen on February 18th in St. Catherines, ON. This event will be held at Scott Street MB Church (339 Scott Street) at 7:00pm. If you live in that area, come out for an evening of fellowship with other alumni in your area. Come see what's happening at CBC and hear from alumni. Bring a dessert and your family. Adel Klassen (Director of Alumni Relations) and Ron Penner (Interim President) will be there. If you know of any other alumni in the area, please contact them about the event, we'd love to have everyone there! Reunion

The Great Alumni Search
We've had a great response to the creation of the Alumni Relations office. Many people have submitted alumni update forms and our email and white pages lists are growing daily, but there are many people we still have lost touch with and you can help! People move or change their name and we lose track of them so we continuously searching for alumni. You are our greatest resource as many of you have stayed in touch with classmates, friends, relatives, or even people you attend church with or work with. You know information that we don't! Check with fellow alumni to see if they are receiving mail from us, if not, we would appreciate information to point us in the right direction or your connection with that person to encourage them to contact us and update their information. The best is to direct them to the website to fill out an alumni update form!
Missions Fest
Check out the Columbia Bible College booth at a Missions Fest in a city near you. Stop by and say hi to our representative!
What's happening at CBC
Feb 5-9th was prayer week. Students participated in a number of prayer events and the theme was "What is God Saying?".
This past weekend (Feb 8-11th) a group of students from CBC went on the urban mission adventure, an urban plunge experience in downtown eastside Vancouver. It's a great opportunity for students to see what's happening there, to talk with the people to live there, and to help out at various ministries. I've had the privilege or going as a leader a number of times over the years and each time it has been an enriching experience as I lead a team and together we are stretched and moved by what God is doing for the hurting people in Vancouver. If you're ever interested in being a part of these events as a leader, we are often looking for people to help out as leaders. We have groups go at 4 different times during the year (usually September, October, February and March). Please contact Bryan Born for more information. bryan.born@columbiabc.edu
Midterm Exams are coming (Feb 19-22nd) and students are off on reading break Feb 23- Mar 2.
