Happy New Year!
New year is always a time to look back at the past year and dream about the year ahead. I'm so excited about the response to the new Alumni Relations office and services. We are looking forward to a new semester here. Students start arrived on Sunday and classes begin on Wednesday. Alumni Relations is looking forward to a busy winter schedule and the opportunity to meet alumni, we hope to be able to connect you through one of our events. May this year bring you joy, peace, and a deeper relationship with God and the people around you.
Missions Fest, Vancouver
Our very first event! Missions Fest Vancouver is January 26-28, 2007, see their website http://www.missionsfestvancouver.ca for more information. Columbia has numerous alumni in the Vancouver area and many attend Mission Fest, each year we have a booth there to present CBC as a great option for Bible College education, and just because you've already been there doesn't mean you can't stop by. Melanie Olfert, Director of Admissions, and I (Adel Klassen), will be representing CBC. We're excited to have the opportunity to meet alumni face to face and hope you'll be able to drop by if you're there.
Phone-a-Thon
Our annual Phone-a-Thon will take place February 6-7, 12-15. Current students will be calling alumni to participate in raising funds for projects to benefit students. More information coming soon by mail!
Ontario Gathering
We are planning an alumni gathering for February 18th (Sunday afternoon) in St. Catherines, ON. This event will be held at Scott Street MB Church at 7pm. If you live in that area, let us know if you would be interested in attending. (alumni@columbiabc.edu or Toll Free 1-800-283-0881 and ask for Adel).
Alumni Newsletter is coming
The Alumni Newsletter is in the creation process and should be in the mail Mid January. Anticipate alumni events, updates from faculty/staff and other alumni, information about alumni relations, and phone-a-thon information.
Reunion
We are still looking for people to help plan the 10 year reunion for 95-97 students. If you're interested please contact Adel. alumni@columbiabc.edu or Toll Free 1-800-283-0881 or local 604-853-3358.
The Great Alumni Search
We've had a great response to the creation of the Alumni Relations office. Many people have submitted alumni update forms and our email and white pages lists are growing daily, but there are many people we still have lost touch with and you can help! People move or change their name and we lose track of them so we continuously searching for alumni. You are our greatest resource as many of you have stayed in touch with classmates, friends, relatives, or even people you attend church with or work with. You know information that we don't! Check with fellow alumni to see if they are receiving mail from us, if not, we would appreciate information to point us in the right direction or your connection with that person to encourage them to contact us and update their information. The best is to direct them to the website to fill out an alumni update form!
