May 2007

Hello Fellow Alumni!

It's May and finally feeling like spring might really exist. The campus is almost completely deserted with no students and it's a little bitter sweet; there's an audible sigh of relief after the chaos of the last few weeks and we  really miss the students. For some departments here on campus, the busy season is just starting with events on campus, recruiting, and preparing for next year.

The big news on campus is that we have a new President! Ron Penner, long-time VP Academics and Administration and MBBI Alum ('63-'65), has accepted the offer from the board to become president. We are excited about this new chapter in CBC's history.

Here's what's happening...

The Great Alumni Search

We've had a great response to the creation of the Alumni Relations office. Many people have submitted alumni update forms and our email and white pages lists are growing daily, but there are many people we still have lost touch with and you can help! People move or change their name and we lose track of them so we are continuously searching for alumni. You are our greatest resource as many of you have stayed in touch with classmates, friends, relatives, or even people you attend church with or work with. You know information that we don't! Check with fellow alumni to see if they are receiving mail from us, if not, we would appreciate information to point us in the right direction or your connection with that person to encourage them to contact us and update their information. The best is to direct them to the website to fill out an alumni update form found at www.columbiabc.edu/alumni!

Alumni Testimonies

Alumni stories are a key to our recruitment process and help people to catch the vision for Columbia. We want to know how your using your Columbia education, whether it's through employment, personal growth or volunteer service in the community. Many prospective students want to know what you can do with a Columbia education and your testimony helps us answer that question. So, send us a short testimony about your time at CBC, what you learned and how you're using that education today. You can send all testimonies to admissions@columbiabc.edu.

Enrolment Referral Campaign

Enrolment is up again this year! We continue to look for new students to share Columbia with and have started a referral campaign for alumni:

The desire of faculty and staff at Columbia is to serve those people who have a sense of call to the growth and education opportunities at Columbia Bible College. We are pleased that enrolment numbers are up for September 2007 once again! We have been blessed with many fantastic new students over the last few years. Our mission is to prepare people for a life of discipleship, services and ministry. Our hope is to connect with people that you know who aspire to this mission and would benefit from hearing more about Columbia; whether for one year as a foundation builder or to prepare for a career in ministry. You may know of people who Columbia would be a good fit - and we would like to hear about them.

As a token of our appreciation, every referral you give us enters you into a draw for several prizes including $50 Earls gift certificates, $25 Tim Horton's and Starbucks gift certificates and CBC Swag.

How it works:

1. Submit the contact information for your referral at http://www.columbiabc.edu/alumni/services.html under "Alumni Ambassadors".  This should be a person you think would be a good fit at Columbia and who you think would benefit from receiving information from us.  This must be a new contact for us.

2. Please tell the person that you are referring that you have done so, so that they can expect to receive a package from us.  We will use your name as the referral source.

3. Referrals must be submitted by June 30, 2007.  Draw date will be June 30, 2007.

4. For every new referral you submit, your name will be entered into the draw for the prizes listed above.

5. Feel great about sharing the good news about Columbia!!

We are looking forward to sharing the Columbia option together with you!  If you have any questions, please contact us at admissions@columbiabc.edu.
