BC Lions join Columbia Open

Excitement is mounting as Columbia Bible College is gearing up for its 11th annual Columbia Open Golf Tournament.
The tournament is taking place on Tuesday, May 1 at Chilliwack Golf and
Country Club followed by a fabulous dinner banquet and silent auction at
Columbia Place. This event always attracts a full field of 144 golfers. The
play format is such that golfers of all ages and skill levels can participate
and have a great time! There will be a hole-in-one competition as well as
special gifts for each golfer and prizes for the best score in various
categories.
The Columbia Open Committee is pleased to welcome a couple of celebrities to
the Tournament. BC Lions Slotback Geroy Simon and Defensive Back Barron Miles
will both be participating in the tournament this year.

BC Lions are Back

The Grey Cup Champion BC Lions are once again returning to
Abbotsford - SPORT TOWN CANADA - for Training Camp. Camp will be
held from June 4 - 21, 2007 with the players being hosted by the
Columbia Bible College with on-field work taking place at Exhibition
Park.
Wally Buono and his talented coaching staff will be putting rookies, free agents
and veteran players through their paces for the purpose of selecting the team
that will challenge for the 2007 Grey Cup. With a combined total of more than
115 players, coaches and support staff during the peak of training camp, the
Lions contingent will spend almost three weeks in Abbotsford.
Practices are open and fans young and old are encouraged to stop by
Exhibition Park to watch practice and get a chance to meet the players. The
highlight of Training Camp for Abbotsford will be the hosting of FAN FESTIVAL at
Rotary Stadium on June 9, 2007. Fan Festival is a celebration of football at
every level and will include great food, spectacular entertainment and the ever
popular white and black BC Lions scrimmage.

Abbotsford
Leith joins Bearcats

Jim Leith has joined the Columbia team and has taken on the responsibilities of Athletics Advancement.
Working alongside the athletic staff, Jim will oversee a variety of
tasks that include securing sponsorships and athletic marketing. His
expertise will go a long way in building upon the vision to make
Columbia Athletics one of the premier sporting events in Abbotsford and
the BCCAA.
Leith brings a wealth of experience to the Bearcats. He has been
heavily involved in community sporting events throughout his career and
continues to be a prominent member on the amateur scene.
Jim is currently working in a volunteer capacity as the Promotions
Director for the 2006 B.C. Seniors Games in Abbotsford. He is familiar
with college and univeristy sports, overseeing Athletic Marketing and
Sponsorship Sales at Trinity Western Univeristy Spartans the past five
years. His knowledge in the media, both newspaper and radio, is of
significant proportion. He has been part of the Williams Lake Tribune
and The Victorian newspaper as a News and Sports Editor. Jim also spent
more than 25 years providing sports coverage for local radio stations,
including CBC radio from 1971-1996. As a play-by-play broadcaster, he
has worked with the Victoria Cougars (WHL), University of Victoria
Vikings basketball, and several years of B.C. High School Basketball
Championships.
