About the Coach:

Coach Duke comes to CBC with experience at both the CCAA and CIS levels of athletics. As a player Duke competed for 4 years in the CCAA with The Kings University College in Edmonton. Most recently he has worked at the CIS level as an Assistant Coach in the Trinity Western University women’s basketball program.

 

Duke has extensive experience coaching at Basketball camps throughout Canada and the U.S.A., including the University of Alberta camps, Northwest Basketball Camps, HoopStar Academy, and the Point Guard College. For the past 2 seasons Duke has been the Head Coach of the Langley Christian Senior Girls Basketball team.

Bearcat Alumni on National Team
Former Bearcat volleyball player, Kara Jansen Van Doorn now plays in the CIS for the Trinity Western Spartans. Kara has excelled at every level of volleyball she has played, and has been chosen to represent Canada on the National Beach Volleyball Team

New Year Kick-off
The New Year begins with a bang at Columbia Athletics, as the volleyball, basketball and soccer teams all start the second half of their season.

Kaminski tops BCCAA
Matt Kaminski (Lloydminster, SK), a 3rd year outside hitter on the men's volleyball team, was honoured by the BCCAA for his outstanding play last weekend and named BCCAA Athlete of the Week.

CBC Athletes among BCCAA Elite
Despite playing for the smallest college in the BCCAA, Columbia Bearcats athletes are regularly among the leagues elite players. At the halfway mark of the 2008-2009 season, 8 Bearcat athletes are among league leaders in statstical categories.

'Cats go .500 on the road
Both CBC men's and women's volleyball teams had 1-1 records over the weekend. The teams took on Douglas College on Nov. 21 and Capilano University on Nov. 22.

Series Split
The Bearcats men's and women's basketball teams both lost to the visiting Capilano University Blues on Saturday. The women's score was 91-32 and the men, 91-65.

Bearcats Balance Attack
The Columbia Bearcats men's basketball team had 6 players score in double figures as they defeated the visiting Capilano University Blues 86-79.
