Costa Rica Missions Trip 2004

Our women's volleyball team had an awesome trip to San Jose, Costa Rica in December 15-23.  We did a variety of events on the trip including playing four volleyball games against local club teams, visiting three orphanages and serving at a poor village.  We also helped out with a Christmas program at a local church.

Here is what a couple players are saying about the trip:

"The trip was a lot of fun. It was really neat to see a different part of the world and to be immersed in a completely different culture, especially when I don't speak the language. It was great to play against the Costa Rican volleyball teams and it was a real experience to share our testimonies with them after each game. So many people were touched by God. It was incredible." - Claire

"It was amazing experiencing another culture, especially with my teammates. We had the privilege to see God work through us and to minister together, and this caused us to become more unified and strong as a group."  - Cheyla

More responses from the players about the trip:

"My highlight of the trip was working in the orphanages. One thing however, that struck me, was that even though we were the ones that were supposed to be blessing and ministering to the kids, the kids did so much in return to bless and minister to us, through their smiling faces and lifetime memories that that will forever be with us. It was also really awesome, that despite the language barrier, we were all able to form such special bonds with all the kids we met." - Katie

"I was overcome with emotion when I walked into a house at one of the orphanages.  As soon as this little boy saw me, he jumped into one girls arms, then onto a counter and almost tackled me over.  Then he just hugged me and held on so tight, I almost broke down at that point. It just reminded me that children crave love and I am glad I got to share a little love with that little boy." - Kristine

"One of the things that I really enjoyed was experiencing so many different aspects of a different culture with my team and growing closer because of it. I also really liked singing on the bus when we were driving places, which happened a lot." - Amy
