Biography
Music has always played a central role in Leanne's life. The daughter of a piano teacher, she sat and listened to students play the pieces she longed to master, while also sitting beside her mother on the piano bench at church, learning the fine art of accompanying. As a young adult, she studied with Dr. Betty Suderman and worked with Tony Funk accompanying the Columbia Singers.
Leanne loves to help her students discover the depth of beauty within music. From the intricate workings of the theoretical to the finer physical challenges of creating the perfect “pianissimo” finish, she thoughtfully approaches every aspect of teaching with utmost respect. While her first love is classical training, it has been a joy for her to discover ways to teach contemporary music, including reading from chord charts.
Leanne is kept extremely busy chasing after two active boys, Lucas (5) and Owen (2). This stage of her life is full of preschool activities, Sunday school teaching, park visits and sippy cups. She enjoys playing piano on a worship team at her church and co-leading a care group. House renovations are another pastime, having recently moved to another home with her husband, Colin. With every full day the chance to enter a studio to teach is a privilege and a joy.
