Important Health Insurance Information
NOTE: All students are required to have valid and adequate medical insurance coverage for the entire period of attendance at CBC, whether living in residence or as a commuter. Columbia Bible College does not provide Health Care Insurance for students during any portion of the academic or calendar year.
Expenses for ambulance, emergency, hospital (in- or out-patient), physician’s clinic visits, or other health-care services are the responsibility of the individual student, and will not be paid or reimbursed by the College.
- INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (ALL OTHER COUNTRIES, INCLUDING THE UNITED STATES) - In accordance with the province of British Columbia, Columbia requires all students to enroll in the BC Medical Service Plan (MSP). MSP is coverage provided by the provincial government and will ensure good medical coverage while in Canada. Student Guard is a third party Health Insurance provider that Columbia uses to insure students during the 3 month wait time before they are eligible for MSP.
All students who do not have Canadian health care are required to purchase one of the following Health Insurance Plans, depending on the duration of their program. The cost of each plan will be charged to the student’s account in two equal payments, 50% in September and 50% in January. Please note that MSP is not an extended health plan (i.e. dental, etc.). Students who have existing extended health coverage through a parent or spouse should check to see if they are covered during their study period. Students may also opt to purchase additional extended health insurance through Student Guard.

This option covers a student for a period of 8 months (September 1 – April 30).
|Student Guard (3 Months)
|MSP (9 Months)
Health Insurance Plan B (Diploma/Degree students)

NOTE: All students who are non-residents of Canada will automatically be registered for Student Guard beginning September 1 (August 15th for 1st year Outdoor Leadership students). Students will be required to complete and submit the MSP application received at registration, before receiving their student card. If a student leaves before their projected program completion date they will be eligible for a pro-rated refund. Please note that it is the responsibility of each student to ensure he or she has adequate Medical Insurance.
