Bible Lands and Lifeways
Dr. Mark S. Ziese (BBL; MA; MA; PhD)
This course presents a multimedia exploration of the geography and cultures of the Bible. The class incorporates onsite videos, interactive maps, and a variety of learning tools to help students explore the Holy Land.
Dr. Ziese is Chair of the Bible Studies Department at Cincinnati Christian University, teaching in Old Testament and Archaeology. He has excavated in Israel, Jordan, and Palestine.
Book of Hebrews
Kenn Boles (BTh; MA)
An exegetical study of the book of Hebrews focusing on the superiority of Jesus and His covenant to all other religious persons and systems. Students will learn the contents of Hebrews, practice solid doctrinal thinking about its teachings and experience the freeing impact of Jesus’ “once-for-all” atonement.
Kenny Boles is Professor of Greek & New Testament at Ozark Christian College. He has studied at Ozark Bible College, Abilene Christian College, Missouri Southern State University and Abilene Christian University.
Children's Ministry
Dr. Rick Chromey (BS pastoral ministry; MRE; Dmin)
A course examining the principles and methods for effective ministry to children, birth through fifth grade. Special attention will be given to discipline, teaching worship and evangelism.
Dr. Rick Chromey is currently the Director of the George Fox University Boise Center in Boise, ID. He has served Assistant Professor of Youth and Family Ministries at Kentucky Christian University, Grayson, KY. He is an active youth worker, speaker, writer and travels widely as a representative and workshop leader for Group Magazine. He is the author of Youth Ministry in Small Churches and The Children’s Ministry Guide for Churches (Group, 1990 & 1995). He previously taught at St. Louis Christian College.
Christian Worship: History and Practice
Dr. Tom Lawson (BTh; MA; MA; Dmin)
A course giving an overview of the history of Christian worship from the first century to the present, focusing primarily on worship in the Western (Latin) and Protestant traditions. The course emphasizes the theology, architecture, practice (liturgy), art, and music of corporate worship in the Roman world, Europe, and the United States. The lecture format is used, complemented by electronic multi-media and group projects. It would be most helpful for the student to have taken a Church History course prior to this class.
Dr. Tom Lawson is Professor of Christian Worship, Old Testament and New Testament at Ozark Christian College since 2003. He has done graduate work at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. From 1987 to 2003 he was Professor of New Testament at Kentucky Christian University. From 1982 to 1987 he served as Minister of the North Syracuse Church, Syracuse, New York. He was Associate Director of Christ-In-Youth from 1975 to 1979.

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with an overview of church history. This is an introductory course designed to acquaint the student with the broad scope of the history of the church over the last two millennia.

Creative Bible Teaching
Dr. Rick Chromey (BS pastoral ministry; MRE; Dmin)
Practical methods for teaching the Bible, including principles of teaching and learning, and lesson construction. Students are guided in the step-by-step development of lesson plans. Various teaching techniques are researched, discussed and presented in field experiences by the student.

Cross-cultural Communication
Dr. Leonard Thompson (BSL; MA; MA; BD; Dmin)
This course provides a basic understanding of both communication and culture, and explores the process of cross-cultural communication with the aim of making our communication not only heard but also understood, no matter how different or diverse the other culture is. The course will always have as one of its main goals the developing of necessary skills to properly and meaningfully proclaim the Gospel across cultures and respective societies.
Dr. Leonard Thompson is an evangelist, pastor, teacher and broadcaster. He has conducted ministry in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Australia. He pastors the Annanagar Church of Christ in Chennai (Madras) India. He regularly teaches in theological schools in Asia, and broadcasts four times a week through Radio Sri Lanka.
Foundations of World Religions

This course includes an introduction to the theories, origins, and functions of religion. In addition to a survey of primitive and basic religions, it will study the major religions of the world, classified by their geographical areas of origin: India, China, Japan, and the Middle East. The course concludes with a study of the response of Christianity to these world religions.

Introduction to Islam
Dr. Robert Douglas
A survey of key elements in the life of Islam (beliefs, practices, institutions) will be viewed from a Biblical perspective with the aim of preparing Christians for ministry to Muslims. Special attention will be given to the role of Mohammad, the Quran, diversity within Islam, Islamic values, thought, social structure and theology in view of the helps and hindrance to evangelism presented by each. Implications for cross-cultural communication of the Gospel will be analyzed.

Life of Christ

This is a four part harmonized study of Christ in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Semester 1 covers the beginnings of the gospel through the first year of ministry. Semester 2 studies the later Galilean ministry, including the feeding of the 5000 and the transfiguration. Semester 3 investigates the later Judean and Perean ministry, up to the final week of Jesus’ life. Semester 4 concludes this extensive study with the passion of Christ through the ascension.
Mark Moore is Professor of New Testament at Ozark Christian College. James Marcum is retired professor of New Testament and Ethics at Ozark Christian College.
New Testament Survey

Students participate in a survey of the New Testament text, canon and historical background of the New Testament, including examination of the dates, authorship, circumstances, and content of each book.

Old Testament Survey
Dr. Paul Kissling (MDiv; MTh; PhD)
This course is an intermediate level survey of the background, contents, and theology of the 39 books of the Old Testament. Emphasis will be placed on understanding how the Old Testament is understood in its own context and yet speaks to our contemporary situations as Christians. Students will read the entire Old Testament and a textbook; answer essay questions based on their reading and on notations taken from watching the CD lectures; interact weekly online with the professor and fellow students; and complete proctored examinations.
Personal Evangelism in a Post Christian World

A class in personal evangelism cannot be taught from a strictly academic perspective. This class will examine evangelism as it takes place in Scripture, as well as study different approaches to evangelism which are used successfully in North American churches today.

This course is designed to introduce the student to the successful model of servant/spiritual leadership in a Biblical context. Various principles and characteristics of servant/spiritual leadership are explored, including integrity, humility, vision, holiness, etc.

Youth Ministry Dynamics

This course will provide an overview of the history and development of youth ministry in the evangelical church along with an understanding of the basic theological and philosophical frameworks upon which an effective youth ministry is built. Special attention will be given to the practical areas of family ministry, discipleship, creative teaching, planning and programming, sponsor recruitment, evangelism and short-term missions. Students will learn to develop a philosophy of youth ministry and a philosophy of how to best connect family ministry and youth ministry. They will design a discipleship program including a commitment form and content of the program. The students will teach a Bible lesson using an established curriculum and design an original lesson. The students will plan a 3-day retreat including a back-dated calendar and hourly schedule. The students will design a short-term mission trip for a youth group.
