Join us for Conversational Punjabi 1

Learn to connect with your Punjabi-speaking neighbours.


Columbia's Continuing Education department invites you to learn Conversational Punjabi in a positive, interactive class setting.  This ten-week course will introduce you to the basics of the Punjabi language, including the alphabet, sentence structure, and core vocabulary. With help from your Punjabi-speaking instructor and teaching assistants, you'll practice greetings and conversation starters - questions about family, customs, and celebrations. You'll also learn about Sikh culture, beliefs, and traditions You'll come away better equipped to engage with and show care to your Punjabi-speaking neighbours.

Meet Instructor Imran Daniel, M.Div.(cand.)

Imran is the Pastor of Multi-Cultural Engagement at Northview Community Church. He was born and raised in Pakistan. Imran's first language is Punjabi, and he has experience teaching basic conversational Punjabi in the community.



Please Note:



  • This course is open to anyone with a desire to learn Punjabi to better engage with their neighbours. This includes the local community, as well as Columbia students, staff, and faculty.
  • Students under the age of 16 are welcome if they are taking the course alongside their parent/guardian.
  • This class will be capped at 25 students, and will run with a minimum of 10 students. If 10 students have not registered by January 8, we reserve the right to cancel the class.
  • Refund policy: A 100% refund is available for students who official withdraw from the class by 4:30 PM on January 22. No refunds are available after that date.
  • Columbia staff/alumni discounts do not apply to this course.
