Choose Your Meal Plan

How Meal Plans work:

At Columbia we deeply value the sense of community that eating together fosters. For this reason, the Meal Plan is mandatory for all residence students. The Meal Plan is conveniently accessed through the student ID card and operates on a declining balance. Each individual purchase made in the Dining Hall is deducted from the total semester's balance. You can add more money to your meal plan at any point in the semester. The entire dollar amount needs to be used during the academic year of purchase; limited roll-over privileges for those students who continue as residents may take place from the Fall to the Winter semester, but will not be granted after the Winter semester. If a student requires a refund for a specific reason, they will need to submit their application to Student Development for consideration.

Which Meal Plan is Right for Me?

Junior Housing Meal Plan

The Junior meal plan is designed for maximum flexibility. If you run out of funds after the initial minimum meal plan of $1200, you can add additional money to your card at any point in the semester. Your total spending will depend on your individual appetite, your food/beverage choices, and on whether you stock your res cupboards with snacks from the grocery store.

Sophomore Housing Meal Plan

Sophomore Housing is designed for the mature student who is looking to gain more independence yet still participate in junior housing-style community. While you will have access to a kitchen in your residence for your own cooking, you will also have a minimum meal plan of $600. This meal plan encourages Sophomore hosing students to connect with the larger student community through the sharing of some meals in the dining room. Sophomore housing students may also choose the Junior meal plan if they prefer.
